Waiting for a Heart Transplant

Waiting for a Heart Transplant

“For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:10 NKJV

“They shall be My people, and I will be their God; then I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me forever, for the good of them and their children forever.” Jeremiah 32:38,39 NKJV

When we pray for revival, we need to believe for a new heart, for a heart transplant.

Can you imagine a world wherein everyone had a heart to live by the Ten Commandments? The earth would be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord. There would be a wholesome reverence for God and respect for one’s neighbor. No false religions would be engaged in inhumane terrorism, forcing submission on their subjects.

No one would speak evil, curse, nor swear deceitfully. Every seven days everyone would get a restful day off. Families would be happy families—for fathers and mothers would be honored. Capital punishment would disappear along with murder cases.

Marriages would be secure and safe from adulterous affairs. Divorce courts and orphanages would be closed. What about jails? Prisons? They would be mostly vacant. No one would steal or defraud.

False accusations, character assassinations and gossip would be nonexistent. Also, schemes of covetousness would disappear along with cheating and betrayals. Amazing! Then who would need lawyers and lawsuits? Can you imagine?

Only one problem. One big roadblock! There is absolutely no power in these ten good rules themselves that can help adherents obey them. The unregenerate person may try to keep these commandments. Yet it is in his very nature to disobey the law. Jeremiah speaks for the Lord when he says: “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked; who can know it?” Jeremiah 17:9

Is it any wonder that we have a whole underworld culture that finds pleasure in law breaking? This is why the world tends toward breakdown of civilization.

Yet the Law still plays a crucial role. It raises the high standard of right and wrong. It testifies against mankind that we are incorrigible lawbreakers. Thus, the Law becomes detested in that it condemns the lawbreaker. No wonder the scofflaw atheist labors to eradicate the Ten Commandments from the public arena. Education alone is not the answer. Introducing more knowledge to the sinner only makes him a more clever devil.

There is only one answer. The solution is the promised new heart transplant the Lord offers man. “Then I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them, and the stony heart I will take out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh, that they may walk in My statutes.” Ezekiel 11:19,20

The Good News is that Jesus died to give us His very own pure and uncorrupted new heart. Only a new heart can be a believing heart. Religion cannot do this. We need nothing less than a heart transplant. We need the heart of Jesus Christ. He waits to come into our hearts today.
