Listen to the Peace Speaker
He said to them, “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then he arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. – Matthew 8:26
I grew up on the Texas Gulf Coast. I well remember the red and black hurricane warning flags flying at the harbor in Freeport. It was the height of foolishness for a seaman to ignore that warning—even if the weather seemed to be fine.
In today’s perilous world, the storm warnings are flying. Without the Lord, there is no peace, no safety. If a storm is brewing in your heart, Christ is the only answer. He is the only one who can speak peace to your soul.
He is our Peace. His peace passes beyond the scope of our understanding. His wonderful peace is found exclusively in His salvation and comfort of His Word. The world does not give it. The world cannot take it away.
If you have no peace in your life today, ask the Lord to search your troubled heart. Sometimes it’s the little things which steal peace. Be quick to humble yourself and admit your needs to Him. Confess your sins and be willing to rectify matters. Rejoice that He is back in control.
Above all, focus upon Jesus as your Savior and role model. What does Jesus say to you? What would He do in your situation? Do what He says to do. He can calm the angry storm. The wind and the waves obey Him. Listen to what He says, “Peace, be still.”
Place your soul under His command. He is the peace speaker.
