AT THE TABLE
Psalms 23
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6 Surely[d] goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I shall dwell[ in the house of the Lord forever.
Everyone knows psalms 23 it is probably one of the most well known verses but today I want to bring up the question, “What is God doing in your darkest seasons in life?”
Every one of us is in a different season of life, your friend next to you could be having the happiest time of there life, while you could feel like your fighting to just stay a float…
In Psalm 23 it talks about walking through the valley of shadow of death, and in the valley of shadow of death, its not fun… there Is evil, there is fear, there is discomfort, and there are enemy’s everywhere… and I’m not talking about physical enemy’s I’m talking about anxiety, because thats an enemy, depression, fear, and all kinds of spiritual ones. The battle is not fought in flesh and blood.
So what does God do in all this… scripture says in verse 5 that he prepares a table for you, one with food, and I’m not talking about, he sets up a small picnic table with nice and neat cookie cut sandwiches for you. No he prepares a table and its a all you can eat banquet!
So in the darkest moment of your life when fear is screaming at you and doubt is yelling and depression is trying to overcome you, he sets up a table, right in the middle of all of it, just to have fellowship with you… And at this table there is LIFE LOVE JOY PEACE GRACE and its all you can eat. Even in big difficulties such as saddest or the craziest moments in life, you can experience the most hope, joy the most peace, the most enjoyment, the most satisfaction, in life in the valley of shadow of death…. and it all stems out of your fellowship with God.
