December Missions
“Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For is born unto you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you:You will find a babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.”And suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”
Luke 2:10-14

During this season, we should take a pause from all the celebrations and lights to remember the reason for the season.   We are celebrating Christ the Lord our Savior who was born in Bethlehem, the Light of the world.  It was this same Jesus, humbly wrapped in swaddling clothes in the manger for whom the angels gave praise.  The angels as they appeared before the shepherds declared that they were bringing; good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.  Here in the modern western world we have every opportunity to receive the Gospel message.  Nevertheless, there are still billions of people globally who have never heard the name of Jesus.

Missions is the Churches way of fulfilling these glad tidings to all people. Going forth into all the world and sharing the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is how we fulfill the Great Commission of the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes. His purpose; mission was to be the Savior of the World, not just for some people but all.  He came to reconcile a separated people from his Father in Heaven. Our mission is to be like the Angels; Heralding the Lord has come and bringing goodwill to all men.

At Mountain Creek Church ministries like “God’s Hands Extended” are supported to do just that. Every year Debra Stevens and her team celebrate the birth of Christ with the Jesus Birthday Party. At this party goodwill is extended to the children of the less fortunate by the giving of Gifts and Toys and the Sharing of the Good Tidings that our Lord, Christ the Savior is born!
