ONLY LUKE IS WITH ME

“ONLY LUKE IS WITH ME”

Let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of His coming back again is drawing near. Hebrews 10:25 NLT

God ordained the church for such a time as this. Stay with the team! Our communion, our fellowship, is so vital to surviving. If you intend to overcome the opposition of this present darkness and finish your race well, you will need fellow encouragers.

Both Luke and Demas traveled with Paul. Luke is only mentioned three times in the New Testament. All three times that Paul references Luke in salutations, his name is linked with Demas. Although Luke received scant notice, his influence on the Christian world is incalculable. He was not only a beloved physician, he was the consummate journalist. Think of Luke and we can quote his Christmas narrative. He beautifully describes the many healings and miracles of Jesus. He tells of the power of the Holy Spirit in both his gospel and the Book of Acts. He is the behind the scenes reporter traveling with the Apostle Paul. He is one of the most quoted Bible authors.

For Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world…only Luke is with me. Paul writing in 2 Timothy 4:10,11

Demas also traveled with the team. But he quit. Dropped out. Abandoned the mission. Done. We remember him as the man who forsook Paul. He “loved this present world.” That “present world” is now only ruins and a history of corruption.

Unfortunately, we are in a time of too many Demas episodes. Flagging fellowship is the new norm. In these final days of time, what will be the tag attached to your name and legacy. Overcomer? Quitter? Pray that the Holy Spirit will steer you back on course. Consider these crucial questions:
1. Who is it that you agree with in prayer? Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. Matthew 18:19
2. Who is it that you gather with? For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them. Matthew 18:20
3. Who watches for your soul? Obey those who rule over you and be submissive, for they watch out for your soul…Hebrews 13:17

Get linked up with people of destiny. Purpose to follow the example of Luke: faithful to the end. Leave a legacy of victorious faithfulness.
