Have you even had that split second of danger when you had to make an immediate decision? No doubt we have all experienced those frantic crisis moments. All we can do is call on the Name of the Lord!
Recently I was driving to meet a friend for lunch. I had stopped at the traffic light on the Loop 12 exit at state highway 114. I glanced at the empty parking lot to my right. Then I looked up at my rear view mirror. A huge truck was barreling up too fast behind me! He was only a second away from plowing right into me! “Jesus!” I cried out.
Instantly that truck swerved into the right lane around me, rushing past only inches away. Now he was headed toward the cars stopped in the right land. Just a moment before colliding with that line of stopped vehicles, he veered off sharply into the adjacent parking lot, bursting through the cable barricades and fences. All of this happened before I could utter another single word of prayer. In that terrifying instant, only one word came out of my mouth: the name Jesus.
Proverbs 18:10 declares, “The Name of the Lord is a strong tower. The righteous run to it and are safe.”
I pray that the Name of the Lord will once again be lifted up in our nation. He is our only true security. He lifts us up beyond the reach of our enemies. We are safe only as long as His Name is our refuge and strength.
God bless America with reverence for that Name above all names—Jesus!
God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1
